This policy covers the iPhone and Apple Watch app Please, don’t kill my gains (shown as “My Gains” on your device) and this website. The app is made and operated by Roger Junior (the “developer”, “we”), who is the data controller. Contact: support@dontkillmygains.com.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to sync your workouts between your devices, we run no advertising or analytics trackers, we never sell data, and you can delete everything with one email or one tap.
What we collect, and when
Before you create an account: nothing. Your first workouts run in guest mode. They are stored only on your iPhone (and Apple Watch) and are not sent to us.
When you create an account
- Email address and a password hash, used only to sign you in. Authentication is handled by Supabase on our behalf.
- Your training data: programs, workouts, exercises (including custom exercises and any photo you attach to them), sets, weights, reps, notes, rest times, session timestamps, body weight and measurements you enter, and personal records derived from them. This is synced to our server so it is available on all your devices and survives a lost phone.
- Gym locations you save (a name and a coordinate) and, for each session, which saved gym it happened at and when you arrived and left. See “Location” below for what stays on the device.
- Purchase status for Pro (whether a subscription or lifetime purchase is active). Payment itself is processed entirely by Apple; we never see your card.
Automatically
- Our server keeps standard request logs (IP address, time, endpoint, app version) for security and debugging, retained for no more than 30 days.
- The app does not contain any analytics SDK, advertising SDK, crash-reporting SDK from a third party, or tracking pixels. This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from third-party domains.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your permission the app:
- writes completed workouts (type, start and end time, calories where available) and, from the Watch app, heart-rate samples recorded during a session;
- reads body mass and body measurements so they can be shown alongside your training.
Health data is used only to provide these features. In line with Apple’s rules, HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never shared with third parties, and never used to make eligibility decisions. Heart-rate samples recorded on the Watch are stored in Apple Health on your device; only summary values that you can see in the app (for example the average heart rate of a session) are synced to our server. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
Location
The gym-location feature uses a geofence that runs on your iPhone. The app does not record your movements and does not send location coordinates to our server while you move. What leaves the device is the gym you saved (name and coordinate) and, per session, the identifier of that gym with arrival and departure times. Location permission is optional; everything else works without it.
Export to AI assistants and AI generation
- Send to Claude / ChatGPT is an export. The app builds a text summary of a workout and hands it to the share sheet; it goes only to the app you choose, under that app’s own privacy policy. We do not see it.
- AI generation (Pro): when you ask the app to generate a program or an exercise, the text you type in the questionnaire and the relevant exercise names are sent to an AI model provider to produce the result. This content is not used to train models and is not stored by us beyond the generated result that lands in your account.
Where data is stored and who processes it
Your account and training data are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase and served by our API. Processors we use, each bound by their own data-processing terms:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Apple — App Store purchases, subscriptions, HealthKit, iCloud backup of the device (if you have it enabled).
- Cloudflare — serves this website and keeps cookie-less, aggregate request counts.
We do not share your data with anyone else, and we do not sell it.
How long we keep it
Account and training data are kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, everything associated with it is deleted from our database immediately and from backups within 30 days. Server request logs are deleted after at most 30 days.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data, and we will do it. Export is built in: Settings → Data → Export CSV. If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, Brazil or another jurisdiction with a data-protection law, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing and to complain to your local supervisory authority.
Deleting your account and data
Either:
- in the app, Settings → Account → Delete account, or
- email support@dontkillmygains.com from the address you signed up with.
Everything is deleted; there is no “deactivated” state. Export your CSV first if you want to keep a copy.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you on next launch and the date at the top of this page will change. The version at https://dontkillmygains.com/privacy is the current one.
